Give ArenaNet some time - No other MMORPG adds a new spec for every class with every expac. Posted: 25 Nov 2021 06:18 AM PST As far as I know, basically no other MMORPG out there is so ambitious as to add a whole new subclass/spec to every existing class for every expansion. Obviously, this subreddit doesn't speak for the whole community, but a lot of what I see are a huge swath of complaints about the upcoming elite spec changes etc. It just isn't realistic to expect that your main class is going to receive a 'BETTER' spec than the last. I also see a lot of people making comparisons - arguing that these classes need to be as good as Firebrand or Scourge or Renegade to 'fit' in the meta. I think this sort of feedback is unhelpful, as in actuality, those 'master of everything' classes should be brought DOWN to EoD levels, not the other way around. I feel like there's no winning for ArenaNet here, as people will always compare their main class to another's. If you only main one class, you may just be experiencing burnout, and if you're looking for a 'fresh new experience' that the new spec doesn't provide, perhaps trying out a different class from a while is the way to go. It's clear now that they have the capability to make quite hefty changes relatively quickly. Reserve judgement until the beta, as we've seen that 'on paper' looks can be deceiving. Just give Anet some time, they have an incredibly difficult task here. [link] [comments]

Posted: 24 Nov 2021 06:33 PM PST Title pretty much. I just don't understand why when Thief is given DPS focused elite specs. They go full selfish, little utility. Then they try to give Guardian a selfish DPS spec, and it gets the ability to apply one of the most crucial buffs for group play. I'm aware thief has some support, like DE might stacking, and boon DD, but those are pretty situational, alacrity is much more scarce. I mean good lord, even with Mesmer, mirage was built to be a full Condi DPS spec, and then they just decided to throw alacrity on that as well. It just seems to me that every selfish focused spec also ends up getting at least one relevant support spec, with the exception of thief. I'm not sure, maybe I just chose the wrong main, lol. Has anyone else noticed this or am I just crazy? Am I undervaluing the support that DD and DE provide? [link] [comments]

WvW World Restructuring Beta on December 3 Posted: 24 Nov 2021 03:40 PM PST
Posted: 25 Nov 2021 11:01 AM PST And maybe buff renegade and mirage to compensate. I mean, it's really weird to have some classes do 5-man while others do 10. And with RR renegade it's even weirder to group up. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2021 03:24 AM PST After the changes on the patch notes , what do you guys think about it? Honestly as a Mesmer main I'm kinda disappointed [link] [comments]

The Support Situation: 10 Man Boons Posted: 24 Nov 2021 11:40 PM PST The preview of the beta 4 changes really swept me off my feet, and I was impressed to see the detailed reasoning anet gave for all of their changes. With a second round of changes being locked in for testing, one thing remains very clear going into this beta. With the current state of renegade and mirage, the incoming alacrity supports (willbender, mechanist and spectre) will struggle to find a niche as you need to justify taking 2 of the above supports (or chrono) Vs a single mirage/alacrigade, or two condi rr renegades. It's really important when introducing new specs like the EoD ones to consider where they'll sit in the current spec ecosystem, and with some pof specs remaining in a highly overpowered state (scourge, firebrand, renegade) the impact of the new specs is lessened thanks to the dominance of existing specs. I hope we see anet attempt to balance these outliers either with, or immediately following EoD launch. As a starter, it'd be good to see high impact boons like quickness and alacrity standardised to 5 man, with exceptions for long cooldown skills like Time Warp. [link] [comments]
Willbender now can give AOE Alacrity Posted: 24 Nov 2021 12:42 PM PST That's it. That's the post. Congrats to Guardians for being the first class to cover might, stability, quickness, healing, alacrity, power, condi, tanking, aegis, etc. etc. [link] [comments]
New Untamed Unleashed Ambush Skills Posted: 24 Nov 2021 09:35 PM PST Taken from MightyTeapots stream with CMC. Details might not be 100% correct as I am just writing down what I remember and names for all of them weren't given. Shared cool down for ambush skills is unknown to me. These are mainly AoE abilities. All melee weapon ambush attacks (greatsword, hammer, sword) spawn one seed from exploding spores per target hit. (Does poison and damage after a short delay, was either 3 or 5 target). So you can potentially spawn 5 seeds which each explode. Savage Slash (Great Sword) 360 swing that rips boons. Max of 5 targets. Does more than Maul in PvE but in competitive modes it has a lower power coefficient than Maul. Hammer ambush A channeled spin doing damage, you have increased movement speed while using it. Likened to warriors axe 5 spin. You also get 1 stack of stability for a "couple" seconds. Sword ambush Mid range Leap to the target and slam the ground, dazing all who are hit. Axe ambush Throws axes at enemies 360 degrees around you (looks for targets around you and throw 2 axes at them). First axe does bleeding and vulnerability and the second axe immobilizes for 1.5 seconds. Designed to work well by following it up with split blade Shortbow ambush Shoots three arrows in a triangle formation that do damage in an area and inflict poison. A target can only be hit by one area so it won't be stronger on large hitboxes. If it hits a poisoned target it also inflicts torment and weakness. Multi-shot (Longbow) Similar to the axe ambush but instead looks for and shoots the targets around your main target. Each shot that hits lowers the cool down of your longbow weapon skills. The first shot does a greater CD reduction (3 seconds) than the subsequent shots (1 second). Up to a maximum of 7 second cool down reduction. He did not say what the aquatic weapons ambush skills do but it sounds like they do exist. [link] [comments]
