Hardstuck Charity Fashion Show Friday 27th!

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 02:53 AM PDT

    Hello Reddit!

This Friday 27th Hardstuck is going to organize another Fashion Contest and this we have decided to do it for a good cause.

During the entire stream we'll be raising money for Cure Rare Disease, a non profit charity that develops custom therapeutics for those that have been diagnosed with very rare genetic diseases that don't currently have any treatments or cures.

Winners are going to be the 4 most voted contestants and they will be decided in our Discord trough reactions!

There are no category or special theme, which means that we want you to impress us and show us with some excellent fashion and you will be able to win some fabulous prizes!

This time around you'll not only need to impress us but also guest judge StaysafeTV! He's journeyed all the way from World of Warcraft to see what the Guild Wars 2 community is made of in the fashion world!

The event will start at 6PM UTC and in Lion's Arch on the EU server. It will then move onto the NA server later on and it will be streamed over at Teapot's Twitch channel.

We'll try to keep it 2 hours per region, so make sure to be there on time before the queue is stopped!

If you're interested in donating for CRD here's a link, thanks for your consideration:

    https://streamlabscharity.com/@mela/hardstuck-crd-fundraise

We hope to see lots of you joining the events, and supporting a good cause!

If you're interested in more events like these, then here's The Hardstuck Roadmap so you can look at all the upcoming things we have planned.

Also join our Community Discord and our Competitive Discord if you want to be directly involved and want to know everything that's happening in the Gw2 Community!

    See you soon,

    The Hardstuck Team

    Gush thread

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 04:50 AM PDT

Sorry r/Guildwars2, I don't have friends that play GW2 so I 'll just gush to you instead.

I just came back to this game after leaving during early HoT over 5, maybe even 6 years ago.

And the game is so incredible to come back to now. The mounts. Exploring HoT and the old world is such a joy with all the cool mount skills. Instead of using waypoints I actually walk around the map a lot more now. Exploring old and new areas with the mount skills is amazing. The game flows so much better now and I'm actually enjoying HoT content now as well.

Hero points just out of reach in the vertical HoT maps? Not a problem. Just jump up there with your bunny.

Mastery points or events just out of jumping reach on a different branch? Not a problem, raptor got your back.

And the new elite specializations, breathing life in classes I didn't really enjoy at first, now becoming main played characters in my roster.

And the world is still so full of people and life, old world bosses and events are still crowded.

Excuse my pointless thread I just had to vent my enthousiasm. :D

    Solo Arah P3 - Warrior [13:08]

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 03:55 AM PDT

As a new player it's pretty dang confusing how you suddenly find yourself in a different version of Lion's Arch when entering personal story instances.

    Posted: 25 Aug 2021 02:27 PM PDT

Why does the little picture look so much derpier than my character actually is? I've been wondering this for years.

    Posted: 25 Aug 2021 06:59 PM PDT

why are the account upgrade sales so bad this year?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2021 11:50 PM PDT

Bank Tab Expansions, Storage Expansions, Equipment Template Expansions and Bag Slot Expansions are all just off 20%, when they were off 25-30% during March Sale and usually even more (30-40%) during the previous Anniversary Sale. Did anet really put them on less discount cause people have a lot of "free" gems from preordering EoD? disappointed tbh

A Cost Guide to Prepare for the Skyscale Mount

    Posted: 25 Aug 2021 09:23 PM PDT

With the return of living world season 4 I thought I would fully map out everything needed to acquire a skyscale. I've heard how much getting the skyscale sucks, but I decided to see for myself after the experience of acquiring the griffon wasn't as bad as I had heard. I realize there are probably dozens of different guides like this (it wasn't until I was done formatting everything that I realized this; I can be dense at times), but hopefully this guide will be helpful in a way the others may not be.

I will cover the collective costs and materials required in total if going down the route of crafting everything yourself (the cheaper route), and then the total cost if every item was purchased that can be purchased off the trading post (using the lowest sell price listed on the item's wiki page; prices change all the time).

The information on costs and materials was sourced from the GW2 wiki and the skyscale wiki page. I will provide links for all items and materials.

The crafting everything route: Cheaper, but takes longer.

Not all 20 extra-pungent skyscale treats are necessary to skip the challenges in Stage 4 - Troublesome Skyscales. One treat is given free at the start and then the 19 others can be crafted to get through stage 4 faster.

The recipe for one extra-pungent skyscale treat: 1 smell-enhancing culture, 1 charged quartz crystal, 2 slabs of red meat, 10 piles of bloodstone dust

The required and optional items to be crafted, and total materials required:

Required crafting skills and levels: Jeweler 400 and chef 300.

Total base cost and materials required:

    Cost broken down by stage:

Note on charged quartz crystals: This material is acquired by charging 25 quartz crystals at a hero point (must be the communing type, not combat type). This can be done once per day.

Note on LWS4 map currences: Kralkatite ore, difluorite crystal, inscribed shards, lumps of mistonium, branded masses, and mistborn motes can be acquired by doing the Return achievements by completing tier 3. Another quick way to acquire these currencies is getting eternal ice from nodes, essence chests (requires certain Icebrood Saga masteries), and events in the Icebrood Saga map Bjora Marches.

The buy everything that can be bought route: More expensive, but faster.

Total base cost and TP cost of items: Posting buy orders may reduce costs, but may increase time to finish.

Total gold cost with treats: 255.19 gold

Total gold cost without treats: 120.67 gold

    Total costs:

The hybrid route: Customize cost and time.

Of course you can craft some things and buy others as suits you. The information above will hopefully be of help in determining your preferred course.

Want a guide on how to level crafting fast or cheaply? I recommend https://gw2crafts.net/.

Edits: Spelling and grammar corrections, improved source readability, fixed cost calculation errors (erroneously doubled cost of treats; I like to overestimate so it is a pleasant surprise when it is cheaper than expected... because of errors), added costs for skipping the treats, and clarifying the treats are not required.

There's a useful annual event in GW1 that might help you out with a HoM point

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 08:45 AM PDT

The Wayfarer's Reverie event is up this week, if you never got a tormented Weapon for your HoM it's a pretty easy (at least by comparison) questline to complete. It does require all expansions and some locations you can't just run to so it's not totally free. Still, it's an option for anyone who's close to 30/50 and needs every point that counts

Ah yes, Return to Istan, where the Commander uses mounts to rescue prisoners from cages on top of a death pillar and then flies away leaving them behind!

Who would you consider to be the most underused/misused characters?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 05:57 AM PDT

Which characters would you like to have seen a lot more of, or would have liked to have seen used differently? Who could have added to the narrative if used more/better?

I'll start by saying that I think Dougal Keane is the most underused character. He was a great Nathan Drake-style protagonist for Guild Wars 2's first and best novel, only to get a mere cameo appearance as a Vigil trainer in Lion's Arch. Maybe there's hope for him, since his ally, Ember Doomforge, featured quite a bit in Drizzlewood Coast.

I really need some help understanding why my character currently feels so bad

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 02:59 AM PDT

My highest character is a Lv 80 thief which I leveled a bit into Deadeye but not yet far enough to properly use it. Most of the time I'm using a Dagger/Pistol combination. Since I reached Lv 80 and try to do anything in the Lv 80 game I feel so weak. I get oneshot by the most insignificant mobs. I tried to play Season 2 of the Living World and I barely get through the Solo fights and have to get revived multiple times. I am made out of glass but I am far from a cannon. I die easily and deal no damage. I don't know if my gear is way too bad or what I need to do better but I would happily provide any information about my char if someone has an idea what could be the problem.
