I love the legendary armory but now that I crafted a few legendary weapons i feel like swapping weapons is more clunky than before.
Playing STM chrono in raids, swapping weapons almost every boss is quite a pain.
I'm considering going back to using ascended, but it really hurts to think of all the time spent grinding the legendaries just to use their skins.
I'm hoping there is a way for ANet to make it so that the weapon defaults to it's previous set of stats (also sigils and infusions are a bit of a pain).

AFK Farming Pandemic - Domain of Istan

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 12:09 AM PDT

    Overview

Domain of Istan has always had an issue with AFK farming. Be this in the form of Turret Engineer, Minion Necro or Malyx Revenant. But since the most recent release of "Return to Daybreak" and every player gaining access to Istan for free. Many people have taken up AFK farming here and many have brought alt accounts to increase their gain.

Every hour of AFK farming here can yield upwards of 2,000 volatile magic, tens of thousands of karma, unidentified gear, along with other rarer drops like Venom sacs and crystalline dust from killing Ibogas or Spiders. The main thing being the volatile magic, which can be traded for Trophy Shipments. These Shipments give a variety of T6 and T5 materials. 77s profit per 250 volatile magic.

Before posting this, I checked 6 different Istan maps and recorded 63 players AFK farming. This is equal to roughly 400g/hr in illegitimate rewards among them. To put that into perspective. If each of them are AFK farming while going to bed, or going to work (9hrs), that's ~3,600g. A full day? ~9,600g. Take note, that the number of these players across all maps, both NA and EU, could easily double, or even triple this small sample size of 6 maps depending on the time of day.

The most accounts from 1 player (similar/same acc name) I have personally discovered is 7. That's 1 player muleling the equivalent of 44g/hr, 1,000g/day while AFK. Typically for multiboxers I see 2-3 accounts. Still a large amount of money for no work. Full AFK

Some of these AFK farmers have even acquired close to 1,000,000 Volatile Magic

    Combatting AFK Farmers

I have discovered several ways to combat against this new increase in AFK farmers.

Revenants are the easiest to deal with, as they apply torment to themselves constantly in order to maintain the mallyx elite skill. Giving these AFK revenants might, or other condition damage buffs will result in their torment doing more damage than their passive heal can handle, killing them in the process. Even is ressed, their elite will be disabled and required to be turned on manually, thus disabling their AFK farm.

Minion Scourges and Core Necromancers are the next easiest to deal with. However it is very time consuming. These AFK farmers rely on NPCs to become aggravated to them, triggering their minions to retaliate and kill the NPC. By giving these AFK farmers permanent stealth, or killing the NPCs before they can hit the minions, the necromancers minions will never attack, and this AFKer will be kicked from the map after 30-45 minutes of inactivity.

Minion Reapers can be countered only by killing the NPCs before the minions attack, as they cannot be perma stealthed due to their ability to sit there with Greatsword 4 (Nightfall) autocasting. Due to this autocasting, it means the reaper will never be kicked for inactivity. So killing the NPCs will only disable these types of AFK farmers until you stop.

Engineers are the AFK farmers which are essentially impossible to stop. These AFK farmer are on the very border of being classified as unattended gameplay. Being able to AFK for a maximum of 5 minutes at a time before needing to replace turrets. Farming this was is still technically against the ToS as they prohibit "The use of auto-casting abilities to farm while not at your computer or not actively playing the game" and state "...your character should not perform actions, participate in content, or otherwise engage with the world while you are away from your computer." However it could be argued that replacing turrets is "participating in content". Some of these Engineers do however use macros to reset their turrets every 5 minutes, evident by them being seen continuing to setup turrets even after being pulled multiple times by ibogas to the edge of cliffs.

    Possible Solutions Some solutions to this problem, which I can think of are;

    • Making both skill activation AND movement required to avoid the map DC timer. Requiring players to do both to avoid being kicked after 30-45 minutes

    • Making skill auto-casting only work while in combat, such as Auto-attacks already function.

    • Giving minions a 5 or 10 minute despawn timer. Similar to engineers and their turrets.

ArenaNets Stance on AFK Farming (Unattended Gameplay)

Guild Wars 2 Prohibits ANY form of unattended gameplay is prohibited in Guild Wars 2. This includes:

    • The use of auto-casting abilities to farm while not at your computer or not actively playing the game.

    • The use of a macro to automate character skills while not at your computer or not actively playing the game.

    • The use of a macro to farm repeatable events or activities for rewards while not at your computer or not actively playing the game.

    • The use of a third-party program to automate or create a "bot" that performs autonomous actions in the game.

"Note that this does not mean that you cannot be away from your computer (AFK) while you are online. Idling in a city or even in the open world is not prohibited, though your character should not perform actions, participate in content, or otherwise engage with the world while you are away from your computer."

Some people may make the argument that I am "griefing" these AFK players. The ToS states that AFK should not otherwise engage with the world. Therefore killing NPCs and Stealthing these AFK players is to prevent them from engaging with the world. Griefing would be to force them to engage with the world. Such as pulling champs to kill them. The complete opposite.

These players are not active in-game, they are not responsive to anything and they are breaching the ToS. Any normal player who isnt AFKing to the point of breaking the ToS would respond to any of the above mentioned methods of combatting AFK farmers. Be it moving, jumping, casting skills, literally anything. At which point, I give them a wave and go on my way.

    Unpopular opinion

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 05:42 AM PDT

I like Braham. I like his character. His actions in LW3 make him a solid character. He's not 'angsty', he's grieving and he's angry with the commander. He has emotions like everyone else. Does it excuse his actions? No. It doesn't, but this just makes him more interesting for me. He makes mistakes.

If you don't like him I get that, but I really like him and it can be a bit depressing when I see how much hate he gets. Same goes for Taimy.

So yeah. What about you guys? Do you like him? Do you hate him? Or are you indifferent and don't care about him?

It's been FOUR months since the release of DragonStorm, ANet. We need a solution against AFK abuse.

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 09:09 PM PDT

I really have to rant over this, too many people being too passive against this problem on DStorm. Making a private squad is not a solution, it doesn't fix the problem, it actually just serve as an incentive for people to keep afking more and more around the game without contributing at all, just making the game more difficult for us players, because of scaling.

Why should they earn the same as me over half hour of work when all they did was join the instance?? It's very frustrating to see 15-20 people sitting around at the entrance, and they do because the game lets them do it.

There needs to be a kick mechanic or a measure that makes you ineligible for rewards on that run after a few minutes have passed, where resuming activity does not cancel it.

And there is no reason to be passive about issues and just allow them, there is no reason to keep enabling/encouraging bad behaviors.

PS: as i recall now, on the first days of DStorm where it was possible for the last breakup to glitch, if you remained on the instance waiting for Jormag to win, after a while you would get a warning regarding no participation on the event, so there is something already implemented

    Hello my WvW Friends :)

After over 2 years, we finally finished gathering data for all WvW reward tracks.
After hundreds (felt like thousands) of hours one of our longest running data projects is completed.

Big thanks to my data gathering team helping me out! (Infurion 'Infy' Kermitson, Arckange, Kipz, DeKanger, Taha and Hellfire)

If you think that's not enough data, you can contribute your data to fast, any help is appreciated: https://fast.farming-community.eu/farming/guides/contributing-data

PvP reward tracks are currently not planned...besides recovery, support is also needed :)

    Keep on gathering data folks

Another WoW refugee trying to fit in in Tyria

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 12:58 AM PDT

Hi all, hope you are all having a good day :)

I just started the game this week again and started a Norn Warrior (only played for a couple of weeks on release back in 2012 and went back to WoW because of my friends at the time). I am having a BLAST and the leveling is such a breath of fresh air, however I just wanted to ask a couple of questions regarding certain things. Sorry if these are asked very often, very new to the subreddit as well. I am not using any guides, I just want to experience the game freely.

    - Hero Points:- By level 80, will I have enough points to unlock all Skills in these trees? I currently have 36 points and have not spent any of these yet.

    - Crafting:- As a Warrior, I went for Armorsmithing and Weaponsmithing, however I found the crafting very vast and overwhelming as a new player. Should I focus on this later on during the game or is it essential to level it up while leveling for any armor/weapons for the journey?

    - Gameplay at End game:- I am a guy that does not have a consistant amount of time to play, sometimes I can play for entire days, sometimes I can only play a few hours a week, sometimes none. Is it hard to keep up / catch up at end game?

Hope I can stick to the game this time, I am enjoying every minute of it. Also trying to bring in some friends to the game as currently I am playing solo.

Thank you for you all for your time :)

Possible Gem Store hints for next 3 spec reveals?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 12:54 AM PDT

Alright everyone, pull up a chair and grab your tinfoil hats. Its speculation time.

A few weeks ago, before the first beta event, while the first three specs were being teased we got three items returning to the Gem Store. Dwayna's Regalia, Lyssa's Regalia, and Grenth's Regalia. A lot of people speculated that this would mean we would see Guardian, Mesmer (which had already been teased at that point) and Necromancer for the first three Elite Spec reveals. Obviously this did end up being the case.

Fast forward and we have gotten our first tease of the next three to be revealed. It is a seemingly heavy armored individual with a Revenant eye band and a Greatsword which has been speculated to be the Rev weapon. Here is where you will want your tinfoil hat. I believe that A-net has put in this rounds version of the Regalia outfit hint and it comes in the form of Mount Skins.

Today we got three new mount skins returning to the store that seem to have some interesting tie ins to the potential new specs.

    1) Reforged Warhound Jackal 2) Umbral Demon Skimmer 3) Wild Trihorn Raptor

Lets break it down starting with the Reforged Warhound.

This is a Forged creature which are servants of Balthazar. You know that God of fire who used a greatsword and whose symbol looks eerily similar to one of the teased elite spec symbols. Five pointed flame with a circle at the base and a circular object inside. In the case of our elite spec symbol it is a diamond but they match almost to a tee. I believe this is a hint at the upcoming Rev Elite who will channel Balthazar as their Legend and wield a Greatsword. Further evidence can be found in the teaser image which has a vaguely five pointed flame in the background as well as a weapon that appears to have teeth or claws down the length of the blade which I believe represent Balthazar's Hounds. Oh and Jackals are a type of canine aka Hound.

Next we move on to the Umbral Demon Skimmer Skin. This one is a trip. Umbral is derived from the Latin Umbra which means Shadow. So a translation of this would be Shadow Demon Skimmer. The Thief elite has been speculated to be getting scepter and many people expect that this will mean a more magical oriented spec with emphasis on shadow magic. We have the shadow tie in but what about the demon? Lets dive into some Canthan lore and take a look at our old friend Kanaxai the demon who dwells in The Deep far beneath the Jade Sea. He twisted and corrupted luxon who mined for jade a little too deep and is working on raising his own shadow army known as The Nightmare Horde. This is where the skimmer ties in as well considering it is our underwater mount. The vaguely demon face has been speculated by many of us to be an Oni mask and here is a little excerpt from Kanaxai's wiki page "Kanaxai and his oni are the cause of the insanity that occurs to various Reaver Luxons who become Outcasts.". And there we have the reference to the oni.

Finally we have the Wild Trihorn Raptor. This one may be a little less solid reasoning than the other two but it still just makes too much sense given the Elite Spec icon many have been speculating to be ranger. My first thought upon seeing the icon was that it was a dinosaur of some kind but I wrote that off pretty quickly. However seeing this raptor mount and thinking a bit more carefully on it I realized that Ranger does not really have access to any dinosaur pets. Now granted they do have the Bristleback and Smokescale pets from HoT and these are listed as Saurians but I do not think this is the same species type as an actual dinosaur. Dinosaur was its own type of creature in GW1 (at least from what I can see on the wiki). My guess is that maybe Ranger is getting additional Saurian or Dinosaur pets. I don't know enough about the Creatures of Cantha to know if dinosaurs were present there but even if they weren't not every spec is always themed around the new expansion area/lore as we've seen with previous elite specs.

So to wrap up I believe we are going to be getting Revenant, Ranger, and Thief this round.

    What do you all think?

I did my best to fix some harp musical scripts from gw2mb, you can now download them too

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 07:11 AM PDT

    Disclaimer

    1. Won't hurt to repeat that Anet officially allow usage of scripts for playing music https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/360013762153-Policy-Macros-and-Macro-Use
    2. I don't own these scripts, they are all written by different talented people who kindly shared their work at gw2 music box site.
I added their nicknames to the scripts names as they appear at gw2mb. If you would like to support an original author - go to gw2mband search them by name.
Usually they have their ingame names in comments or you can try and ask them in comments.
While I have some knowledge of music theory I am nowhere in position to create music on my own, I ONLY edited existing stuff.
    3. There are also plenty of skillful people who play music without using scripts. If you would like to join them you can look for them in this subreddit or lfg subreddit.
This post is mostly for filthy casuals like myself, but it can be helpful to music creators on avoiding problems with their new scripts.

    TLDR

You can download scripts zip archive from google disk here. They sometimes sound a bit different from original since I simplified complex chords and extended some pauses,
but if you don't remember original scripts by heart you will barely notice a difference. Sometimes original scripts sound a bit off too so if you notice any out of place notes
chances are they are also out of place in original script aswell.
Also check a note below about running scripts as it has some important info regarding starting octave which can affect the sound of your compositions.
I then explain in details what was the problem and how it was fixed.

Important note on how to run these scripts

I use this player script. I included it in my collection for convenience. You need AHK installed as usual,
then you simply double click player.ahk, alt-tab to the game, press ctrl+1 and choose a song.
It always starts from medium octave, so I adjusted all melodies to start from this octave.
Check reddit post I linked as it has more details on how to use it.
If you use different player or just start melodies with double click, make sure you start from medium octave.

What's the problem with harp right now

In my agony of trying to grasp the root problems with harp I found this old forum post https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/New-instrument-changes-aren-t-good
Where anet sound designer talks about a bug which creates a 100ms delay for octave switching.
While I am not saying that we now encounter the same bug as we had 5 years ago, there are certainly similarities.
    So, current scripts breaks when:
    1) They include complex chords. By complex I mean when you want to switch octaves at least twice without any delay (and I saw even triple switching in some cases),
    2) They have very short (usually 40ms) pauses between octave swaps,
    3) Similar to previous point: they are high paced and have lots of notes and pauses between octave swaps but less than 100ms pause in total between octave swaps.
There are also minor mistakes in some original scripts, but they are few and very easy to fix.

    Solution

First, I noticed that to get sustained note in game you don't have to hold a key. But all current scripts have AHK commands
to press and release a button which makes them very hard to read and navigate. And then I started to look for a way to automate my work.
By trial and error I've come to this solution. I made a python script that:
    1) Removes "key release" commands and replaces "key hold" commands with "key press" ones. It removed nierly half of the
strings from original scripts and drastically improved readability. I was expecting it to improve performance aswell
(since we are sending less commands) but I didn't notice any changes in that regard.
    2) Marks complex chords.
    3) Marks an attempts of octave hopping without enough delay.
Then I reviewed result script by myself and manually fix it. I could not fully automate it.
There are several different patterns that I came to, but 1) coding them would take a lot of time of planning, coding and
debugging (and I have enough of it at work), 2) there are some situations where you need to actively decide on how to fix it.
In short, most used solutions were: rearrange existing long pauses or split them to swap octave in advance,
remove bass line notes to fix complex chord and preserve the melody, extend existing pause to 110-115ms (sometimes 100ms was not enough) if it's 75ms or higher, etc.
Here is an example of a fixed composition. I took Numb because it shows several things at once: complex chords, quite fast rhytm,
the original is noticeably messed up, you can tell which parts were simplified, also Numb was hard to play ingame even before harp was broken. There are mistakes in rhytm in couple of places, but they are not that hard for further fixing.

    Yay or nay?

While I was able to fix most of the scripts I use, I still have small "work in progress" directory where I have several
scripts that are hard to fix. They are usually very high paced (lot's of short <50ms delays) so you can't remove notes
or extend pauses without messing up the rhytm and/or melody.

    Side effect

As I edited existing scripts we of course should expect some side effects (as you could see from Numb video)
    - Some complex chords were simplified and may sound not as juicy as in original, sometimes there is a single note (it is always a melody note) left
    - Some places have an additional 40-50ms delay and can make melody to sound a bit off at times. But those are quite rare and hardly noticeable.
    - In some compositions I took a step further and removed whole parts of it. Those are usually very long melodies that start to repeat
way to much and/or include messy parts (hardly recognizable solos or just weird parts). I marked them with "EXTRACUT" label in script name.
    - I am not sure if your ping can affect octave swapping delay, so maybe it would still mess up occasionally with higher ping values.
    - I probably overlooked some issues and made mistakes myself.
I offer you a choice. If you like original scripts more in some cases then it's up to you.

Can Anet mess it up again?

Theoretically, yes. It would tho take them some extra work to do so. They can break these fixed scripts in at least two ways:
    1) If they make octave switching delay even bigger than 100ms.
It's hard to say for now if it would be possible to fix music to enjoyable state then, depends on amount of new delay.
    2) If they change note pressing behaviour of the harp in the way that you have to hold button to get sustained note.
Then we would need another cycle of semiauto/semimanual work to put back ahk commands which corresponds to holding and releasing buttons.

    What if Anet fix instruments?

Then we have win-win situation. We have our old scripts back to work and my edition will still work.
It's just scripts that were edited by me will sound a bit different from original as they do now.
So you would have a choice between two revisions on what sounds better to your taste.

    Why only harp?

Because I only have harp. I am aware that some instruments have different notes pressing behaviour,
so my solution for harp may not be applicable to other instruments. And I don't have them to test it.

    Suggestions

I accept suggestions on fixing other scripts. Just remember - it may take some time and not every script is fixable.
My method also has a potential to convert unplayable ingame scripts into playable (if they meet certain restrictions regarding rhytm).
I will continue to work on other melodies I like and add them to the archive. So if you're interested, check for updates from time to time.

That's all! Thank you for your attention and cya at daily jump puzzles at Pink commander tags o/

I say your, because I still feel like I dont belong. Only three days ago I made my escape from WoW's sinking ship. Most people went with FF14, but I picked GW2.

After the immense experience that is 3-4 ingame hours I can honestly say I love it already. (Do not mock the 3-4 hrs, they are key for first impressions).

The few people I have met so far have been nice, and helped me with some bags and dyes. The /m chat is always helpful from what I have seen. Basically, the first impression of the community is like 10/10 for me. Hope it stays like that, although realistically it will not.

There is so much more for me to discover, and after literal years I am actually excited to come home and play an MMO. Understand that a WoW player vaules this as a very rare moment.

I hope the game gets even better above lvl 20 :d

I also need a guild, if they exist. Noob friendly one!. My realm is called: Underworld.

Transition from WoW to GW recommendation level: 100/100.
