I dont understand why they gave Mirage Alacrity.

    Posted: 13 May 2021 11:27 PM PDT

Reading the patch notes it seems like they wanted people to play Mirage more as they are being underused while Chrono is being oversused. But the thing is, the torment and exposure change should be ENOUGH for peolple to try the Spec.

IMO Mirage as a spec is already SOLID in terms of mechanics and gameplay. The only thing it's missing is their DPS towards general situations(due to how old torment works). Now that they're fixed, they should be at least decent enough to be played as a DPS build in most PVE Content. Its just weird that they gave an Alacrity support option to a profession that ALREADY has said Alacrity support build. Its kinda overkill imo.

You can say that alacrity is a "Mesmer unique" boon (like aegis to guardian), but Alacrigade already exist. IMO they should have gave the alacrity to other professions (Maybe Scrapper or Tempest or something).

Now im scared for the actual DPS Mirage (my fav build) because i know they are gonna nerf Alac Mirage and there's a high chance that it will effect the pure DPS build.

EDIT Just to clarify since some people think this is a rant(which isnt), Mirage IS my FAVOURITE spec. In fact I was one of the few who were happy at the patch before they made a follow-up post. I am extrmely happy about the torment change that made our overall dps better. But giving us Alacrity is like giving us a slice a cake when we already have a slice of cake. Like not only does it not make sense since chrono already has alac but i know for a fact that there are other support builds from other specs/profession who could use alacrity to become relevant.

Opinion: Each Build Templates should offer 3 builds, (1 for SPvP, 1 for PvE, 1 for WvW)

    Posted: 13 May 2021 10:20 PM PDT

Right now we can only buy 6 per character. And have to share all 6 slots across, PvE, SPvP and WvW.

I believe it would benefit players better if each build template slot offered a build template for each of the 3 game modes. So each time you buy a template you get 3 builds to make per template (6).

I want to take a moment to appreciate Grothmar Valley

    Posted: 13 May 2021 11:16 AM PDT

Lately I have been feeling a bit burned out, the recent Icebrood Saga Episodes have been a let down, the content not really riveting, the game started feeling like a chore, rather than an a fun adventure.

So I decided to revisit some maps I haven't spent too much time on, take it slow and just stroll around, exploring what there is to see and do.

And I have to say... Grothmar Valley is absolutely wonderful!

It encapsulates many thing I liked a lot about different maps, it has the beauty of a new map, very fun and diverse events and immersive, detail rich environments with plenty of npc fun dialogue and stuff to discover!

Yesterday I ran into a village made up of farmers and other workers I had not seen before, hearing a Charr and a Norn talk about each other's history.

Finding the Ash legion hideout and doing detective work was also something that caught me off guard, for a map that I previously saw as minor, it has so much fun packed into it, the Charr buggy battles, metal concert, helping Chef Mellitus cook.. there is so much!

I really hope that EoD will bring similar amounts of fun and beauty to it's maps, cheers!

Honestly props to ArenaNet for temporarily overtuning classes that nobody plays in PvE. Even when they're fixed, enough people are trying them that many will stick around if they find them fun.

You barely ever see Condi Scourges/Condi Reapers/Condi Deadeyes/Mirages and now they're everywhere. Would have liked to see the same with Scrapper, although I'm guessing that'll be addressed in a future balance patch because of how clearly outclassed it is through being reliant on awkward-to-use off cooldown Gyros.

    Voicelines for mantras again

    Posted: 14 May 2021 05:59 AM PDT

I know the animation is gone for good but the voicelines could still be played whenever a charge is used

    exemple:

1st charge: Respite! 2nd charge: Recover! 3rd charge: Return!

Mist Offensive Potion increases condition damage

    Posted: 14 May 2021 03:56 AM PDT

I am pretty sure that the Potion is bugged right now, i dont know if it was always bugged like this or if it is only doing this since the last patch. But it increases the condition damage by roughly 3% per stack to a total of 15% IN ADDITION to increasing the outgoinng condition damage again. The total damage gets increased by around 25% because a 15% increase in condi damage doesnt equal a 15% outgoing condi damage. I think this contributes to the current high condition dps in fractals and has to be kept in mind when nerfing the new builds.

Some sigil/rune saying +x% Damage which is actually Strike damage only, not Condi

    Posted: 13 May 2021 09:36 PM PDT

    title.

    • Force Sigil still only provides 5% Strike Damage while it says "5% Damage" (which can be understood as all damage type)
    • Some runes (i.e. Flame Legion Rune) say just "damage increase" but it actually means Strike damage.
    • I didn't check them all, only two above confirmed. Reddits should be careful of understanding the descriptions.

Anet should investigate and clarify their description.

    QoL items from gemstore

    Posted: 14 May 2021 03:13 AM PDT

I've recently come back to the game, you can check post history if you really want haha, but I've just purchased 4000 gems because i wanted to support the game.

I'm wondering what the best qol upgrades i should buy are? I currently have the copper fed salvage and both xpacs, that's about it.

Does anyone else get a little lonely in gw2?

    Mantra audio is wrong.

    Posted: 14 May 2021 06:05 AM PDT

While we're airing out grievances has anybody else noticed that the mantras (at least FB) cast audio is the sound effect for just the final charge. It's annoying that every cast now sounds like the super powerful final cast

    One handed gamer needs questions

    Posted: 13 May 2021 12:43 PM PDT

Hello friends, I am planning on making a video showing how I play gw2 with one hand. The video will consist of the mechanics of how I play, what content I play, classes, etc. I would like some specific questions I can answer about my disability, gw2 in general, how I play, etc. Please share any questions in the comments!

People rejoice over Quickness on Scrapper, but it came at a cost

    Posted: 13 May 2021 08:14 PM PDT

PvE'rs and WvW Healbots rejoice, an offensive boon application to replace a seemingly dead trait slot? Its a welcoming change for sure, but really this single change slapped off any chance of a meaningful (That isn't a flamethrower spam 1 but get kited build) sPvP or Roam scrapper ever being viable again.

Kinetic Stabilizers was in all means, a mega oppressive trait that enable loads of cancerous decap builds in PvP, but it also allowed Scrapper to live its (now former) identity of a solo sustain fighter in Roaming and sPvP. It made way for more interesting build options that didn't involve alchemy and Elixir spams.

Yes, the stability lives on with Applied Force but even that is a shadow of its former self with a really poor ICD and duration. With Might being absolutely mandatory if you want to be sturdy, build options have become more restrictive and Alchemy shines even brighter as the defacto engineer trait.

Even with all that might, Scrapper has always had issues with landing skills or having reliable follow-up with Kits / utilities. Kinetic Stabilizers helped eased that issue by rewarding consistent Superspeed. Old Speed of Synergy played a similar role with Blast and Leaps, but now we're more forced into blowing our Healing skills to play catch-up.

Gone are the days of going ape on a zerg or pulling an uno-reverse on a group of gankers with a full zerk glass combo, but really 3 years of Kinetic Stabilizers is a good run for most traits. Really wished something useless / poorly design traits like Damage Dampener Or Adaptive Armor got hit instead, but it wouldn't be normal if PvE Anet made sensible decisions.

Thought I'm more or less salty, sad, pissed and overall miffed by the pure disconnect that I see with these changes with Anet and the Player-base. The blog clearly stated that (We're) "making sure professions can take advantage of the changes, and increasing the viability of several underused elite specializations" but really this change is just 1 step forward and 1 floor downstairs.

    Completely unresponsive gem store/tp?

    Posted: 14 May 2021 08:05 AM PDT

Basically title. Since the patch on the 27th absolutely nothing happens when I try to access the store or tp. No error message, no loading window, nothing. Doesn't matter if I click icon, press hotkey, or interact with npc. Been back and forth with support since then, reinstalled multiple times and downloaded a couple of different programs to generate logs for review. It feels like they've given up and are calling it a latency issue I need to contact my ISP about.

Kind of at a loss here. Never had any such latency or connectivity issue before, nothing has changed with my ISP or service in years, and this is literally the only aspect of the game that appears to be affected. The issue also occurs when I am connected to an entirely different network. Really frustrating because I just don't know what to do at this point. Not even sure where I'd begin to troubleshoot this with ISP if that is actually the issue and it's killing my desire to play when something as simple as buying an item requires me to pester a friend/random guildie to act as middleman.

Has anyone ever experienced a similar problem in game and found a solution?

    Gearing Questions

    Posted: 14 May 2021 03:55 AM PDT

So I was about to gear some character before the balance patch hit. I am now wondering if gearing up a power chrono and a condi mirage is still viable or just a waste of ressources. Same for alacrigade.

    Would appreciate some insight!
