Champions: Judgement Full Music Playlist and my observations. Thank You all for appreciating GW2 Music with me the whole Saga. See you all in Cantha. <3

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 03:16 AM PDT

There has been some reappearing motives, melodies and arrangements this chapter. There is a full version of "Spirits of the Wild" and original ending music I called "The End".

While you read this post you can listen to the tracks the composers offered this time: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoWbt6DU6URuRpftddxZ0XzpnpeeTQvzz

Let's dive into the music in chronological order as it appeared throughout the chapter:

First one is called "Champions of Dragons" - I put two tracks together that play when both Ryland and Braham appear - those tracks are samples from Jormag/Ryland's theme and Champion of Primordus, but I thought I'd appreciate both of those themes, so I added those short track to the playlist. :)

Then there is a cinematic when both Dragons appear and it's a modified music from Jormag's Citadel, called it "Dragons Emerge". (https://youtu.be/Jh73LoEUsc0?list=PLoWbt6DU6URsmH0com8OQ9FOKtgwHQ5rN).

The next track is based on Whisper in the Dark trailer music, but modified. It plays when Aurene begs us for help to give her more power to balance twin Dragons together. And after that there is another cinematic which shows two Dragons clashing, and it is also modified music from Whisper in the Dark trailer (https://soundcloud.com/arenanet/07-whispers-in-the-dark?in=arenanet/sets/icebrood-saga)

Then in the end of Dragonstorm the full version of "Spirits of the Wild" plays, but I think most of the players have missed it. I guess I was the only player that stayed there to listen to this track till the end. :D I called it "The Fall" because it made me think about the words the Owl said "The Wild together can direct the Fall". :) It is a beautiful track based on Maclaine Diemer's composition.

Then there is "Champion's End" music with both cinematic music and its full version that plays after Ryland's death. I called the cinematic music "Nothing left to prove" and left the silent part, because that's how it is originally in game.

And in the end there is that incredibly dramatic track playing with distorted melodies from all the small motives that appeared in the Saga turned into one masterpiece. It instantly reminded me about the music from "Devs", the silent choir in the end just make this track so phenomenal, and the small notes that play slightly off, like so imbalanced in the end of this track. The whole cutscene sets the mood for dialogues after when we fully learned that we didn't really win, that's why the music that plays in the final moments of the Saga is one of the saddest tracks...

So the two most important tracks of this update are:

    1) The Fall

    2) The End

    3) Trailer music

I hope to create another post about the whole Icebrood Saga music soon when I finish turning the playlists' music into one epic and full Soundtrack of the Icebrood Saga. :)

For now credits for Judgement music go to: Maclaine Diemer, Bryan Atkinson, Stan LePard and all the members of Sound and Music Teams.

Thank You for reading and listening. :)

PSA: You can "dodge" the Dragon Attacks for achievements with Skimmer

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 03:31 AM PDT

There are 2 new achievements with mastery points in Dragonstorm category (Cooler than Cool, Skritt Hot). Each of them is tied to one of the big dragon attacks. These are few tips for getting those achievments:
Jormag has long line in front of themself where they shoot icy-lazer beam you need to dodge. The timing can be tricky with all the lag around for some people so I advise using Skimmer mount for this. The way you do it is you wait on the skimmer before the indicator shows up, then you run towards it and before you fly into it start hovering (when you are hovering on skimmer you are dodging all attacks). You can then get multiple evades from one attack if you move forward with the beam shooting at you (sometimes you run out of stamina so be ready to use the refilling mastery) Always try to stay in the attack for it to count.
Primordus takes a bit more time. Easiest attack to dodge is his big chin drop that is indicated with giant circle in front of him. Like with Jormag, you can just fly in it with skimmer and keep hovering on spot while evading it (you can only get 1 evade per attack this way). Another attack you can dodge are the meteors he drops (the single aoe not the big ones from DRMs) I was not so lucky doing this on mount because the AOE is small but evade classes like thief can probably do that easily. Last attack that counts towards this achievment is second part of the Chin attack I described above. After he slams the ground, multiple smaller aoes will quicky spread on the floor. If you dodge any of it you get the points too, but it can be really difficult because there are usually ton of mobs and other aoe from meteors. Even though its much riskier you can get multiple point from one chin attack if you dodge correctly.

I hope this will be helpful for anyone and if you have any other tips share them too.

Can we talk about how ridiculous this ending was? [Spoilers]

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 07:12 AM PDT

So this entire saga was built around Aurene not wanting to get involved. Jormag being manipulative and intelligent to the point that she knew killing primordus herself would kill her, which is why she wanted Aurene's help to do it.

Jormag had been avoiding a full on battle this entire time, instead attacking small towns and getting more icebrood to attack the destroyers with.

For FOUR episodes, it was all about Jormag finding a way around a full on frontal assault, while we were trying to figure out how to make them fight head on, but then in the midst of a small 2 minute conversation we get the following:

    -Aurene had decided to help!
-Suddenly we have a way to pit the dragons against each other using ley lines which we knew dragons were attracted to since the days of Scarlet Briar

Then in the actual battle we get the following:

-Jormag shows up to the fight even though Primordus is also there.
-Jormag goes brain dead from being drunk on possible magic after being touted as being manipulative and the most intelligent dragon, and even admits herself she doesn't have the strength Primordus does.
-Jormag not only is the one who "wins" the fight, she commits suicide in doing so

The ending would have made 1000000% more sense had Jormag tried to retreat from the fight but Primordus being the brain dead brute that he is, stops her and commits suicide himself by using his strength to destroy Jormag, thus killing himself.

THEORY on what the “Cycle” really is, what Mother is and maybe what’ll happen in EoD

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 12:45 AM PDT

My brother and I were talking about End of Dragons and discussing the theory that maybe Aurene might divide her magic into eggs, so she has children. My brother and I think that this has happened before, a super powerful being/Elder Dragon in the past had most of Tyria's magic inside of them, and divided it amongst their children.

These children would of course be the Elder Dragons we know today. My brother and I think the cycle is that eventually all the magic is in one being and then divided by making Elder Dragons. I think the idea is that Aurene is supposed to become the new "mother" by dividing her magic, but perhaps we'll find a more permanent solution in EoD. What do you guys think?

INSANE END OF DRAGONS ARENANET REDEMPTION ARC - 2021 IS THE YEAR OF GW2!

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 11:56 AM PDT

It would be nice if Dragonstorm was visible on the World Map after entering it

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 07:09 AM PDT

Currently, Dragonstorm just exists as an instance even though it has a clear physical location in the world that does not overlap with other maps (as seen here). The same thing was done for other locations which are not regular maps like Fahranur, Claw Island, Forsaken Thicket, Bastion of the Penitent, The Key of Ahdashim, Eye of the North, Lost Precipe, Gilded Hollow and Windswept Haven.

I'm not going to go into my opinion or the quality of the instance here, but it would at least be nice to see the results of the climax of this episode which has been going on since November. Now it feels like a short instance in which 2 major threats are dealt with (visually spectacular) with great loading screen and map art, but it's not visible anywhere except inside the instance itself.

Since Dragonstorm doesn't overlap with any existing map and it is extremely unlikely we'll ever get a map in that location now that the region's threats are gone and we're going to Cantha instead, it'd be nice to see the fallout of an all out Elder Dragon duel on our map.

It feels very weird right now for the Eye of the North to be the hub of so many separate types of content. I'm all for keeping old maps intact so even new players are able to experience the full story (and not have weird moments like Kessex Hills and Lion's Arch), but this is a new map in a new location which is perfect for showing some story progression on the map. Maybe even allow us to explore the post-battle version of the map so not everything feels like a separate instance only existing in EotN.

I Hope the Legendary Armory has a well designed interface

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 01:47 AM PDT

To give people incentives to unlock further legendaries. This combined with gen 3 could give a lot of people incentives to play the game more

I'm thinking greyed out weapons until you unlock them, being able to see all the panoply of legendary equipment available in the game in one place, etc.

How would you like the legendary armory to be made?

    Third generation legendary weapons confirmed!

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 09:12 AM PDT

I feel like this deserves its own post! From https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-live-summer-2021/ :

Starting May 25, Living World episodes will be in the spotlight chronologically. Episodes are free to unlock during their spotlight week, and we'll update them with new achievements. Complete all the new Living World Season 2 and 3 achievements to earn a voucher for a Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons precursor weapon. When the expansion launches, you can redeem it and begin crafting your very own third-generation legendary weapon.

That's pretty exciting I would say. Hopefully some canthan themes in those!

Is there any chance for Slumbering Aurora & Vision?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 02:28 AM PDT

I love the convenience legendaries provide, but I cannot for the life of me bring myself to finish Aurora or Vision, because (and this is the important part) not everyone loves glowing purple balls around their characters.

It just does not fit with my character's aesthetic. I am not into the discoball screenburn scene.

I love how they added Slumbering versions for the PVP and WvW legendaries, and I think it is a super simple and elegant solution that can be applied to Aurora and Vision as well.

Make Slumbering versions of those two. Throw them into the Mystic Forge, add 250 of all map currencies next to it, voila, same legendary but the effects are gone permanently. If you want your disco balls back, you need to craft it all over again.

I cannot be the only one who feels this way. Please make it happen!
