Things are about to cooldown... [data-mining]

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 08:49 AM PST

So, we currently know the 10 DRMs locations in this patch and that they are already in the client, so I decided to bust out some old tools to see if there is something interesting coming

    Tyria3D

Tyria3D is a tool that allows us to inspect gw2 map files offline and access the map data in the .dat file

    What was there?

Well 8/10 maps don't really have much different. They just have most of the models stripped outside the intended instance area. But the last two were really different...

    Bloodtide Coast and Lake Doric

It's seems that the "ally" of ours is getting close to the two major cities and unlike Primordus the landscape has changed a lot...

    Bloodtide Coast | Tyria3D

    Lake Doric | Tyria3D

Ice spikes coming out from the water, one towering over Divinity's Reach even. Guess even salt can't stop this Ice Dragon...

Other map's for you to inspect:

The new NPCs revive mechanic is great! But why its not used in Dragon Response Missions?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 01:11 AM PST

    https://i.imgur.com/6gacQyI.jpg

This is great idea and improvment. Instead of boring press F for long time (and forever if in combat) we stand in these aoe circles and we can still fight, use our skills, charge mantras etc. Great!

But then why its only used in new short story and not in main feature of this update - the DRMs? And it would be so good there! As DRMs are about working with these NPCs right? And these NPCs die all the time right? So why not use this there?

A gallery of outfits that interact with Charr tails!

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 06:17 PM PST

Hello there. I play a Charr and I like outfits so I made a little compilation of the outfits that change their tails in either a minor or a major way! All can be fully dyed unless otherwise specified.

Most of the newer outfits interact with the tail in at least a minor way (no clipping, the back ornament that would normally hang down on other races goes over the tail). I didn't include all of those in the minor changes, only going for those that stand out in some way, i.e. add a mesh specifically for Charr.

    Major

    Gallery

Abyss Stalker - Covers the entire tail save the end tuft, includes the energy channels! Very cool :)

Haunted Armor - Makes the entire tail ghostly, has a spiked ball at the end.

Balthazar's Regalia - Fiery tail. Can't be dyed.

Crystal Nomad - Adds some plates and crystal spikes at the end. The plates can't be dyed for some reason, they share a channel with some other metallic bits on the outfit that also can't be dyed.

Dynamics Exo-Suit - Adds tail armor plates.

Forged Outfit - Turns the tail ghostly/energy-like, adds bone armor and a spiked bone maul at the end. Also super cool!

Ghostly Outfit - Changes the tail shape to thin+tuft at the end, turns the entirety of it to black mist. Can't be dyed.

Grenth's Regalia - This one is a bit weird. I think it might be bugged. Half of the tail is permanently red, the other can be dyed with the energy channel. It looks cool if you go for reddish shades, otherwise not so much. I added two screenshots to showcase.

Ice Encasement - Adds ice armor plates and a crystalline spike cluster at the end.

Inquest Exo-Suit - Adds a spectral cover at the base of the tail, then a ring with spectral blades at the end.

Mad King - Turns the entire tail into a massive chain with a gemstone at the end.

Mursaat Robe - Adds tail armor plates.

Primeval Dervish - Probably my favorite. The robe has a large bone tail going down the backside of the robe for other races, for Charr it's entirely separate and covers the tail in a badass looking bone armor.

Starborn Outfit - Makes the entire tail starry, adds some jewelery to the tip.

Sentinel Outfit - Turns the tail half-black, half-flamey. The flamey bit can be dyed.

    Minor

    Gallery

Marjory's Shrouded - Adds an ornate flap that covers the base of the tail.

Dwayna's Regalia - Adds an ornate ribbon.

Eve's Prophecies - This is more of a medium change, really; adds a tail cover that all the leather straps link to.

Gem Aura - This one's a bit... weird. It looks like a papermache caterpillar covering the base of your tail.

    Gwen's Attire - Adds a flap.

Seize the Awkward + Heart of Thorns Emblem Clothes - Adds a tiny cover.

    Kasmeer's Regal - Tiny cover.

Mist Stranger - I don't know what this here is supposed to be. Some sort of a wire tail handle?

    Nightspeaker - Adds a flap.

Outlaw - Adds a thingy at the end. I failed to discern what it actually is. Some sort of a device?

    Rox Pathfinder - Tiny cover.

Royal Guard - Short armor plate cover.

Spellforged - Short armor plate cover.

Sunspear - Leather cover that is wider than the rest of the individual skirt straps.

Town Clothes - Adds a little cover hanging by chains/ribbons.

Wedding Attire - Adds three metallic rings at the end.

^(\Most of the minor change outfits whose tiny covers dye differently should have this reflected in the gallery)*

    Honorary Mentions

Logan Pact Marshal - Has the fabric above the tail cut so that it at least looks intentional in regards to the tail

Crystal Arbiter - Has leather straps going over it. Intended cool look? A bug? Decide for yourself.

Dishonorable Mention for Ironclad Outfit that not only has the tail shamelessly clip out of it but also distorts whever the tail moves. :C

Why all the talk of killing elder dragons? (Spoilers)

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 05:36 PM PST

What happened to the whole "the world will end if even one more elder dragon dies"?

This season, between hunting Jormag and now planning to kill Primordus I've yet to see any reference to the fact we can't kill any more dragons. Nor any mention of a replacement, or workaround, etc.

Is it just me? Have I missed the reference somewhere in here?

Concept for daily content based on the classic dungeons from Gw1. Why don't we get something like this in every new LW episode?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 10:41 AM PST

Question for those who have played the latest two LS episodes from someone who hasn't

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 09:12 AM PST

I was waiting for the voice acting to be released, and I will soon have some free time to start on them.

I very much enjoy those little details and bits of dialogue that acknowledge your race or other stuff about your character beyond the generic Commander. (Like Wolf having a few lines about your Spirit of the Wild if you meet him as a Norn.)

Should I play these two episodes on a Charr or a Norn? I played the prologue on a Charr and the first two LS5 episodes on a Norn. I prefer playing the Charr because he has better gear, but I would be willing to struggle a bit if the Norn lines are better.

    What do you think?

Here be Dra... the music from Champions: Truce and observations ;)

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 09:06 AM PST

    Hello again :)

New music appeared and as it's the tradition I've collected every single music piece this time from DRM's and Rata Sum's Assault. :)

As always the names are my own at first, but will update them when Anet puts them on Soundcloud - maybe in few months? :D

Anyway... This patch's music is quite awesome I think. I created a playlist so you can listen to the new music easily: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoWbt6DU6URtuovYlNNS0Dc79CF_fSyi6

Most of the tracks are based on Spirits of the Wild/Alpine Marches' motives. 2 out of 11 tracks are a bit different than the rest, because those are based on Jormag's leitmotif.

Defending Rata Sum is a really gorgeous battle music, the violins make make this track flow really beautifully, and drums are used to built the atmosphere of the battle - building tension. Absolutely gorgeous combination of drums and violins. *_*

Destroyers in Rata Sum is so cool!!! That intro is quite strange, gives a sense of something emerging from the ground, that's why I called it this way. Later it is a bit slower, but very similar to Defending Rata Sum, but still building tension of difficult battle against swarming destroyers.

Champion of Jormag - this one is a combination of Defending Rata Sum and Destroyers in Rata Sum, but what makes this track stand out is that single violin!!! Seriously it's masterpiece of originality, and nothing we've heard in GW2 so far. I love how we can hear Drakkar's leitmotif at the beginning, then that solo violin combined with the strange sounds and a hint of Jormag's leitmotif make it so ominous and strange!

But the music that seriously gave me chills is The Wild's Presence. I named it like that because the music is built on Alpine Marches and Spirits of the Wild. As if the music indicates that there is Spirits' presence all over Tyria now, and Braham is the one that carry it with him. I think he sensed the incoming threats thanks to the Wolf's Spirit, that is always with him, as well as Eir - his mother.

Braham is becoming a Wolf!! ^_^

Also while naming this track I thought about Primordus and Jormag, because they are the forces of (wild) nature. :)

I hope you enjoyed the music as I did and I'm looking forward to future updates for Truce :)

    Music nerd signs off :)

tl'dr Here is the music, https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoWbt6DU6URtuovYlNNS0Dc79CF_fSyi6 Enjoy! :)

    Volcanic Stormcaller Weapons Particle Effects

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 08:10 AM PST

So with the recent patch we got a new set of weapons - the Volcanic Stormcaller weapons - which I absolutely adore. The colour palette, the weapon shapes, the red lightning effect. Everything except the extremely over the top smoke particle effect. I mean it's excessive, like waaay over the top. When the weapon is unsheathed, you basically just see smoke and the lightning through it. So if someone at ArenaNet reads this - could you please, please reduce the intensity of the smoke particle effect.
