| The current bot accusation trend of PvP is deterring new players Posted: 23 Jun 2020 09:40 PM PDT While it is true that recently there has been a surge of botters on sPvP, however that doesn't give the free pass to accuse and report others of botting just because they are not playing according to your rules. This issue is much more prevalent in the lower ranks (bronze/silver) and since most new players will be in these tiers, it is crucial for us as a community to try and curb this toxicity. PvP will always be toxic but for the past couple months, it has increasingly become hostile and ANet pretty much does nothing to address the botting issue or the verbal abusers. It seems like the accepted behavior is this, if you are playing necro you must use 10000 fears and if not, then you are bot. If you are playing guardian, you must play firebrand or you are a bot. If you are a thief then you are a bot. If you are an elementalist then you are a bot. And let's not talk about mesmer. And of course, most importantly, you will only be accused a bot and called names if your team loses. It's the old cliched mentality but the accusation of botting and reporting may deter a lot of players from an already dying game mode. It is ironical how PvP players are upset over the fact that the game mode is almost abandoned and at the same time, they do their best to ensure no new players will find joy in the game mode. | Black Lion Chests, and the right way to open them. Posted: 24 Jun 2020 02:14 AM PDT Is there a right way to gamble? Well, there is a strategy which makes it less likely to get a huge loss. - Open with the goal to get BLC exclusiv uncommon drops, do not hope for rare drops. I opened 25 Chests with every new content release for Black Lion Chests and got almost everytime the new items which are BLC exclusive. Almost is in this case 12 item sets of 15 possible sets to claim. (I know 25 Keys are already expensive, i see BLC as endgame content) - Stop after getting the last uncommon exclusive BLC drop. Yesterday was the release of a new mount, which is an uncommon drop in the chests at the moment. These items are the most desirable one because they have a value of 2000 Gems. If you are going for Contracts, keep in mind that "Someone" opened 1k Chests in one go and did not get one, it is extremly rare and i keep saying that you should stop after the last uncommon drop. TL:DR: Open Chests if you want the uncommon drops like mountskins. Stop if you claimed all of the BL exclusive uncommon drops of the chest release. Do not hope for rare drops. EDIT: Everyone of you gets free keys, not only supporters of BLC use them, so keep in mind that this are just thoughts to not loose too much in case of using your mapreward/story key. | Ranked PvP guide : fighting against condi mirage bots Posted: 23 Jun 2020 09:21 AM PDT So if you played ranked PvP in the last few months you surely have noticed those mirage mesmer, with the basic armor, weird movements and all-in bursts. They don't talk, instantly try to stomp or rez if they are in reach, and their rotation don't make much sense. Those are the majors signs to recognize bots. I'm making this post because I am hovering between gold 3 and plat 1, bots are considered as a handicap for the team they are in, but I still see players that push and loose 1v1 against mirage bots. So here I am, making this post to explain how to play against those mirage bots because if the issue exist in gold, it is likely to be worse at lower rank. First, if you died to a bot it's okay, the reason why they works is because of the high condi burst potential, the "confusion" from having 3 AI driven clones and finally untargeting from axe 3. I'm going to talk about everything I can think about to help you win against bots in your games. This will focus only to mirage bots as i've only seen a few burn guardian bots, the general idea to beat them would be the same as mirage but a bit easier. Understanding where the damage come fromCondi mirage has an insane burst potential but a very poor sustained damages. This is why it works, if they kill you with the burst, they don't need to do anything else, no logic or reaction have to be involved for this to work. The fun thing is that its burst is based on torment and confusion conditions, so you are killing yourself in a way. I want this to be as educationnal as possible so I will explain those conditions for any new player unaware ect. Torment is a condition that will inflict damage every second, like the others damaging condition it stacks in intensity so the more you have, the harder it hit. It also have a conditional effect : if you are moving, you will take more damage from torment. Confusion is the other main condition of the mirage burst, it does very little damage every seconds (a negligible amount), but like torment it have an additionnal effect, it will do damage for every skill you use, and those are the big damage from this condi. So you could stow you weapon and stop moving, it will work, but I think it's the same as saying "bUt YoU CaN rUn aWAy", not an efficient strategy if you are in a teamfight and they come in, especially when you know what the bot will because he's following a "scripted" fight rotation. Dealing with the burstSo now that we know that the burst come from condi, what skills do you need to avoid ? The main one is the axe 3, the mirage and every close teleport around you and jump at you, it can stack a lot of confusion, especially since the bot will use the f2 shatter skill to detonate the clones and giving you even more confusion. The condition applied are really short, most of the condi stacks will be gone after 3 second. Bots always does the same things. They will always engage with their burst Ele and guardian have tools to deal with it too, but the cooldown are bigger : * Ele with earth focus 5 * Guardian have a heal skill the block, and Dragonhunter have a block on f3 Thief and mesmer have relatively easy access to stealth leaving us with necromancer being the only one without a reliable block but it's not a problem. You will not always have a way to block this burst, you can and should evade the axe 3 if possible, you want to dodge as late as possible to evade the following shatter and not only the axe 3 confusion stacks. Let's say that you don't have any endurance left so you take all the condi, what can you do ? Stop attacking, really, you don't want to lose too much health from confusion and torment, nearly every good build have access to condi cleanse, this is what you should do in most case. I won't list every cleanse here, but you should have at least one and know how to trigger it if it's from a trait. Exceptions will be warrior/spellbreaker, condi revenant and necromancer. ResistanceResistance is a boon that negate the effects and damage from condition as long as you have it, it means 0 condition damage when you have resistance on you which is huge. Warrior have access to resistance with berserker stance, spellbreaker have even more access to it with traits and utility skills. Magebane is used a lot but I think revenge counter is worth considering in condi heavy matchup. Condi revenant (especially herald) have insane amount of resistance from it's corruption traitline and mallyx stance. It can also easily benefit from runes that give access to resistance on certain skill use, namely resistance rune and revenant rune. Revenant rune give resistance on heal use, and resistance rune on ult use. Power holosmith rely on those runes to get resistant on command, condi ranger with entangle can benefit from resistance rune too if needed. Revenant dragon and demon stances both have ult that are instant and can be used without a long cooldown making it perfect to trigger resistance runes. Condition transfers AKA "No u"Necromancer have a good answer against condi pressure, the ultimate uno reverse card, condition transfers. How do you transfers condi as a necro ? * Staff 4 which is aoe and dagger 4 (which is less used in sPvP) * plague sending trait in the curse traitline, which synergize with weakening shroud trait, instanly transfering condi to nearby foes when you enter shroud Mesmer have a utility skill called arcane thievery, trading 3 of your condi to 3 of the target boon, really good in mirage mirror matchup. Condi revenant also have access to condi transfers in his demon stance on top of his access to nearly 100% resistance uptime in demon stance. Abusing the bot stupidityNow is the fun part, bots are dumb, they rely on the actions like "target next". So they can target pet/minion/clones if this is the only thing in range. Gw2 has a "smart targeting" system that will give you priority target, AKA priorising a ranger instead of his pet if you use "target next", a mesmer clone is the same priority as a player, so bots gets wonky and are completly useless when they are against mesmer who know this. RecapWarrior : Use your access to resistance, blocks and cleaving skills to deal with mirage bots. Guardian : Use your high aoe pressure from symbols, DH traps, FB justice tome and your condition cleansing skill, remember to block/dodge the axe 3 + shatter f2 combo. Power Revenant : Use the staff 3 to block the initial burst, confusion will hurt you a lot when you are auto attacking on sword with quickness. Condi Revenant : This is the best counter to mirage bot, aoe condi pressure, high resistance uptime and condition transfers if needed on top of herald heal if you want to heal using confusion stacks. Thief : Stealing a mesmer give you "consume plasma" which grand you resistance, this is your only tool outside of stealth and dodge. Auto attacking with dagger under confusion will kill you at an insane speed, so pay attention to confusion stacks if you are not under resistance. Engineer : scrapper hammer 4 have a block, holosmith use the shield 5 to block. You get resistance from runes, holosmith can burst down a mirage bot under 2 seconds with quickness and auto attack in forge mode, since it's aoe, it remove the clone nearly as soon as they spawn too. Ranger : Use greatsword 4 to block the opening burst and then maul it down, you have good condition removal in the survival traitline so it should be ok even if the condi gets applied to you. Elementalist : I don't play weaver but I know it does okay with condi cleanse, and have a few evade skill on top of it. Support tempest has everything needed to survive mirage bots, but should not be in a 1v1 position 95% of the time, if it happens, use condi cleanse and heal from water, and obsidian flesh on earth if you get really pressured. Necromancer : Let the bot stacks condi on you and enter shroud, press 5 and 3 and he will die a couples of seconds later. You can also use staff 4 to transfers condi, even on another foe if needed, you have a few really powerfull condi cleanse so you should have a lot of room to work with. Mesmer : Decoy in a power build will mess up bots really bad, in a condi build use arcane thievery to double the condi stacks on him and watch him kill himself with 20 stacks of confusion. I really hope this will help player to understand how to win 1v1 against the bot invasion and maybe even against mirage players, but those will interrupt your skill ect so it's not as straightforward. Please take the few seconds it take to report them, because we can adapt to them doesn't mean that it's okay to have them around. TLDR : Mirage bots rely on a short opening burst of confusion and torment, block their opening or use resistance to kill them through it. Real TLDR : Press the win button.
