Well it finally happened - I got dropped something Truly Rare.

I was playing the ZM today (Kodonur Crossroads HM) and was on my 4th pass through - I had basically stopped picking up gear as it was really all about speed. When I finish the mission I get the "missed loot" popup box and see this skin but just thought "oh cool, a fiery gladius" and didn't even mouse over it...

15 mins later I'm at the merchant and I go to ID it to decide what I'm gonna do with it, and notice the stats...

I do need a PC but will probably go to legacy for it - but if anyone has an idea feel free to DM.

Just wanted to share that everyone gets a good drop at some point! I think my other best one was like a obby edge or something...

What was Guild Wars: Prophecies like when it was released?

    Posted: 14 May 2020 12:15 PM PDT

    Heya.

Are there any weterans here that want to tell a story? I'm curious how Guild Wars looked like upon release. What was the game like? What was the endgame? How did PvP look?

    Love all the recent activity

    Posted: 14 May 2020 04:49 PM PDT

Have been trying to get back into my account after 10+ years. Finally found an old game key! Support is taking forever to respond though. Anyone have a friendly guild that takes on causal players? I'm feeling optimistic about getting my account back.... eventually...

[Suggestion] Prevent escort NPCs like Mhenlo and Danika from healing minions

    Posted: 14 May 2020 12:12 PM PDT

This seems like a very simple fix that would have a sizeable impact on the ability for players to complete a few missions in Factions efficiently. It is very annoying when these NPCs lag way behind the group, healing a bunch of minions that are far behind the rest of the party.

How on earh am i supposed to stuff my heroes ?

    Posted: 14 May 2020 02:06 PM PDT

It seems like this is extremely expensive, I'm trying to use the triple E-Surge team to try and solo the UW, but I feel like they are not efficient enough.

I wanted to put runes and insignias on them but just for the mesmers the price is insane.

Is there an easier way or do I just have to grind to get the money and buy all this stuff ?

Chest Run Fun // Old School Drops

    Posted: 14 May 2020 09:52 AM PDT

To start off I want to say I have been playing guild wars since about the beginning and one of my favorite things to do is chest run. Going towards title yes but I also go specifically to areas with OS weapons with unique skins. I am looking for anyone who has actual maps of run they do showing the paths taken? All the post on Legacy are dead links so that is of no help anymore. I am not looking for the most chest possible I am more about a fun run with 3-5 chest maybe where I can potentially get something OS that is modded well.

I am mostly interested in Factions running locations but Prophecies locations are fine as well.

These are the areas I run the most.

The UnderCity - Plagueborn drops and Celestial Drops along with the chance for Bo Staff / Bladed Shield / Kappa Shield

Raisu Palace Explorable area - probably one of the best runs because no armor drops it is all weapons. Bladed Shields / Forbidden staffs / Golden Phoenix Blade / Oni Daggers and Blade

Mourning Veil Falls - I like this area because so many unique shields could potentially drop that I run this one as well.

Seafarers Rest - Newer run for me personally but the chance at Jellyfish Wands and Outcast Staffs.

I have a few maps I can post if someone is interested in my runs but that will be at a later time.

I also have a collection of unique Items I have gotten from my runs that I use on my guys if anyone is curious about that.

Question regarding defend dronknar's forge HM

    Posted: 14 May 2020 05:11 PM PDT

For the guys who completed this mission, what did you run and how did you micro your heroes? Because my usual esurge/ineptitude/ST/BIP setup gets absolutely demolished by the panic mesmers and the ele titans and we cant spike the healers efficiently due to the panic.

Over the Limit intentions from the developers

    Posted: 14 May 2020 01:15 PM PDT

Over the Limit is pretty useless as is, but I think that the devs had an idea in theirs minds on a cool skill to allow eles to spam spells harder and that they just couldn't come up with an implementation where they would be confident that the skill wouldn't be highly exploited, given that it has both faster casting and faster recharge. So then they crippled it with the constant overcast on top of the normal enchantment upkeep. Even with high energy storage, you need to cancel Over the Limit after like 10 seconds. What do you think? Were the devs on the right path? What changes could make this skill viable?

    Ironman profession, which to choose?

    Posted: 14 May 2020 12:28 PM PDT

I've had a second account knocking around for a couple of years and it's remained untouched, considering starting an ironman on it just so it's out of the reach of my main cash.

I will be following the Hardcore Ultimate Ironman rules, and adding the optional rule of hardcore until legendary survivor is maxed.

Thinking of only playing on stream as well to record the entire process.

What profession would people suggest to play for fun and effectiveness?

    8 Years Later... Just Read

    Posted: 14 May 2020 06:00 PM PDT

Starting Notes: I wrote this in GW2 forum but these are my thoughts why I think GW2 became the game I started logging and dreaded play after awhile. Yet, I talk about GW1 feel aspect more mechanics and how GW2 could have done a lot better capturing the essence of GW1 with its major overhaul.

It's weird to think that I've played this game since pre-launch. While I don't have the time like I use to play this game. I remember the moment I felt burnt out completely playing this game. I just logged into to do dailies, expansion content, etc. but once I was done I didn't really care to play the game anymore. It's like it missed its original manifesto and trust me I went back and listened to it again and again because that's what made me want to buy the game in the first place.

Then, I jumped into the original game again. I was a teenager running threw Cantha on Shing Jea Island with the epic fail of trying play with -60% penalty because I didn't want to travel back to an outpost. Then, I would log into this game just feeling disappointed no matter how beautiful and unique as the game was. Yet, I don't really think it the skill system bind to weapons or lack of mana bar either. Although, I think a mana bar could add depth and allowed the Mesmer to feel more like GW1 Mesmer to drain mana. I really think it how enemies fighting works with a combination of being scaling works or worked making control and support style of play feel non-viable. I know, they added things to help them be more viable. I'm sure damage and high DPS still rules the roost in playing the game.

For me, if a mana system was used. I thought it would be more like GW1. Auto regenerates faster out of combat and tied to only the heal, utility, and elite skills. Allowing weapons side things to be more the cooldown and dynamic quick-twitch combat. Yet, that is more of a side thought. My main reason is how professions? class? IDK what they are even considered anymore but for them feel unique in their control and support styles while in combat.
I think that is one thing GW did right because of its attribute system. Curse based necro was about weakening the opponent while a MM build was all about DPS by the numbers. I get in a more open world you got to be careful. It's the idea of how if you went into focusing on a subtype that those subtypes could create a unique feel in playing the game and it felt like those builds could matter. Don't get me wrong when I say being a cursed based necro would have meant I was just more efficient in how my weakening works to help aid the DPS and support builds of other players.

I always look at Elementalist as the swiss army knives because they literally cover a great array of how they played with the elements they were attuned too. Like I'd view a control Elementalist being burn/single target DPS for fire, blinding/chain effects for air, bleeding/unsteady for earth, and slowing down/chill dmg for water. Where support would be an AoE style fire dmg, Swiftness or granting penetrating armor dmg for air, extra armor to protect party/group for earth, and AoE healing for water. This doesn't mean they can't do any of the things but if you subtype or focus on either those elements and style of play you're more effective at using those skills to help your group and survive enemy encounters.

Yet, it also needs the aspect of an enemy being less or more vulnerable to these subtypes of play. Meaning pure DPS can still win but it's a lot easier having subtypes of ele, necros, etc. builds that contribute to the game experience. While technically you can still do it these styles of builds. They just don't contribute as well as having a great dps build.

Add on or start over from the beginning?

    Posted: 14 May 2020 05:57 PM PDT

I bought Guild Wars on release, played quite a bit, then moved on and never purchased any expansions. I'm probably going to return and from what I've read here if I buy the complete collection and add it to my existing account I will gain 2 character slots bringing my total to 6. But if I create a new account (and start over leveling from scratch) I will get 8 slots. I do also have a GW2 account attached to my OG GW.

What would be a good second account profession to start?

    Posted: 14 May 2020 10:40 AM PDT

I'm looking to start a second account to help multibox and be a mule for my main. Any recommendations on a profession to build on a second account? I was thinking a monk to bond on some solo runs or a rit for duo spirit spam uw.

    Returned player question

    Posted: 14 May 2020 06:39 AM PDT

Hey all, just started playing again after some time away from this game. I just wanted to know if there are active guilds doing stuff in game? After replaying through the campaigns I was hoping to get back into endgame content and wanted to know how realistic that was.
